We finished up work today tired and hungry. The traffic was so appalling that we made no progress on the bus after fifteen minutes. Under circumstances like this, the obvious thing was to go and get dinner instead of hanging around on public transport any longer.
We went to The Old Siege House in Colchester. We've been there before (several months ago, for an anniversary dinner) and liked it. This time around I got the Slow cooked stuffed belly of pork served on a potato cake with cider sauce and seasonal vegetables -- my wife got it last time, and it was indeed as delicious as she said it was! She enjoyed her turkey roulade very much too. We also got desserts, which I didn't photograph -- my brownie was lovely, and the plum pudding was delicious also.
We got free mince pies and coffee after our dinner, which rounded it off very nicely.
By the time we had settled up, the traffic had sorted itself out completely. Hooray for foodie diversions!
